4 days break to Tenerife

A quick trip to Tenerife. We tell you what to do on a 4 days break to Tenerife to enjoy the island and not waste a minute of your time.

Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Taking advantage of a long weekend. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Enjoy a long weekend. There are many ways to make a short trip to our island and make the most of it in the best possible way. Let us tell you something about this post; you cannot appreciate the beauty of our archipelago in just a few days, although we are going to try to tell you what to do on a 4 days break to Tenerife.

4 days Tenerife

Day 1

We arrive at Reina Sofia airport and get ready for our adventure. We take public transport or our rental car and head to Vanilla Garden to drop off our bags and get to know our wonderful stay. Once we have toured the hotel and chosen the appropriate outfit, it is time to get to know the nearest area, as it is the day of our arrival we have less time and we will not be able to travel very long distances.

A good option for this afternoon is to visit the municipality of Santiago del Teide and the cliffs of Los Gigantes. They are a 25-minute drive from the hotel, but we are sure that you will arrive at the perfect time to see the sunset and enjoy the majesty of this area of great natural importance. If you arrive at a reasonable time, you could even enjoy a fantastic excursion to see the many species of cetaceans in the area.

Day 2

Explore the cities of Santa Cruz and San Cristobal de La Laguna. Santa Cruz is the capital of Tenerife and a vibrant city with much to offer. Start your day with a stroll around the García Sanabria Park and enjoy the beauty of its gardens. Then, visit the impressive church of Nuestra Señora de la Concepción, a Catholic place of worship built in the 15th century.

After that, head to the Plaza de España and enjoy the breathtaking views of the harbour. If you’re a history buff, don’t miss the Museum of Nature and Man, which houses a wealth of archaeological and anthropological artefacts.

La Laguna is another of Tenerife’s most important cities. This city was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999 due to its impressive colonial architecture. You can start your visit at the Cathedral of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, an impressive 18th century church. Then, you can visit the Palacio de Nava, which houses the Tenerife History Museum. You will fall in love with the streets of both cities.

4 days break Tenerife

Day 3

It’s time to go to the beautiful north of the island and visit the Teide. A particularly green area with spectacular towns such as Puerto de la Cruz, La Orotava or Garachico. The black volcanic sand beaches will impress you and the warmth of the people will make you want to visit again soon. Villages of seafaring origin that mix tradition and modernity.

To make your trip organised and simple, we recommend that you travel along the southern and northern motorways to get to know these villages and then go up the Orotava entrance on the way to the Teide National Park. This majestic volcano is the highest peak in Spain. After touring the park, you can go down the southern entrance, which will make your arrival at Vanilla Garden much easier.

Day 4

It’s time to leave but we have no regrets, we have good memories. On the last day you can take the opportunity, before your flight departs, to visit some areas in the south of the island. El Médano or Candelaria are great options and are less than 30 minutes from the airport. White sandy beaches and leisure areas and restaurants to say goodbye as you deserve.

And next time, remember to come for more days. You still have a lot of our island to visit, but you can never have enough to do on a 4 days break to Tenerife.

carnival of Tenerife gala de la reina vanilla garden

A lot of rhythm, color, humor and imagination is what we will find in the streets during the Carnival of Tenerife 2020. Internationally famous, it is considered the second most popular carnival in the world. It’s no surprise that it was declared a Festival of International Tourist Interest in 1980.

Originally, the Carnival of Tenerife it consisted of a parade where participants dressed up and wore masks and other types of decorations. But with the passing of time, it has become a great party without comparison, with an important follow-up and with the celebration of different competitions and open-air events for all tastes and ages.

Carnival is a celebration that takes place just before Lent. The dates usually vary between February and March. In this edition the carnival of Santa Cruz will be between January 24 and March 1.

The inauguration of the carnival began on 24 January, and throughout the month of February different events and competitions take place, but the main events that you should not miss are:

On 19 February the great Gala Election of the Queen of Carnival of Tenerife 2020 takes place, a contest in which the candidates parade wearing costumes called “fantasy” that can exceed three meters in height and 100 kg. They’re true works of art, the result of the work carried out by members of the different teams throughout the year, and which are assessed and chosen by a jury to represent the carnival throughout the year. This is one of the star events of the Tenerife carnival.

The next essential date takes place on Friday 21st. La gran Cabalgata Anunciadora will flood the streets of Santa Cruz with colour, batucadas and the best possible atmosphere. A huge parade in which the Queen of the Carnival, thousands of people and dozens of carnival groups take part and tour around the streets for hours. When it ends, the party begins with dancing and performances by great orchestras.

Carnival in the streets

From Saturday 22 February to 1 March, the carnival begins in the street and can be at night or during the day. The party consists of the celebration of dances and performances on the different stages that are usually spread around the city. The live performances, the kiosks and the decorated cars or floats, offer a great variety of music for all tastes. From here, the population of Tenerife, the carnival par excellence, gathers together with other carnival-goers from other islands, the rest of the country or the world around the most legendary carnival meeting places, such as El Corinto or El Águila. Check the programme, mark the days on the calendar and all that remains is to enjoy and dance!

The culmination of the carnival will take place on March 1st. There will be a series of concerts and performances, an antique car competition, a tour of the streets of the city by all the groups participating in the carnival and for the final closing, there is a great pyrotechnic exhibition that you cannot miss.

For the people of Tenerife, the making of costumes is a tradition. They meet in groups for long sessions of sewing and creativity to develop the designs. Others, on the other hand, with little time to do so, decide to improvise and be more practical, although no less colourful. The fantasy of the costumes (this year dedicated to ‘Los coquetos años 50’) and the cheekiness of those who wear them offer a unique spectacle. If you don’t want to be out of tune, you’ll have no choice but to dress up. Put on some brightly colored fabric, some funny wig or a funny mask. The important thing is to feel comfortable and free to dance and enjoy yourself all night or day.

  • Carnival days are long and intense and uncomfortable shoes can take their toll. Use the most comfortable footwear you have and don’t mind getting them dirty.
  • Don’t neglect the weather and adapt your costume to it. Use warm and waterproof clothing.
  • Don’t neglect your belongings and always keep the essentials well stored: money, documents and telephone.
  • Use public transport. The services are reinforced on the occasion of the carnival and you do not have to worry about parking in a Santa Cruz saturated with traffic and people.

Now we are ready to enjoy the Carnival of Tenerife 2020. Let the fun begin!

If you don’t want to go all the way to Santa Cruz, the carnival doesn’t end there. In Arona, very close to Vanilla Garden, the Arona Carnival is celebrated. Los Cristianos, one of the most important tourist areas of the island, also celebrates its own carnival from March 12th to 23rd. As usual, the streets of the municipality host the election of the queen of the festivities and an attractive carnival program. Check out the programme for Arona’s carnival and don’t miss out on the opportunity to get to know the essence of the island’s carnival.

The weather in Tenerife is a real privilege. During the summer season a mild weather prevails, while in winter the warmth is noticed as a moderate continuation of the summer. The sun shines here all year round and temperatures range from 17ºC in winter to 25ºC in the warmer months. Many are the aspects that intervene in this privileged weather of Tenerife and that make this island an ideal place to enjoy a holiday in the open air all year round.

Many are the guests of Vanilla Garden who check year after year the privileged weather of Tenerife. The weather is usually refreshed by the sea breeze and the trade winds, which are responsible for compensating for the long days of sunshine. In addition, the island’s own orography makes it possible to find very different climates in one area and another, the so-called “microclimates”. In this way, it will be possible to enjoy the green forests and high mountain landscapes and, on the same day, sunbathe and swim in any area of the island’s coastline.

One of the most striking phenomena of Tenerife’s climate is that during the winter, pleasant and warm temperatures are maintained at any point along the coast. Meanwhile, it is possible to enjoy the beautiful views of the Teide landscape from your hammock on any beach in the south or from the swimming pool in your hotel. The south of the island, where Vanilla Garden is located, has more hours of sunshine per year, while in the north the climate varies significantly with more humidity. This creates different landscapes and shades worth admiring when it comes to getting to know the island.

One of the phenomena worth admiring is the sea of clouds. This is an impressive effect created by the trade winds, which push the clouds against the northern mountain slopes of the island creating the illusion of a calm and spongy sea.

tenerife weather mar de nubes tenerife

There is no doubt that Tenerife can be enjoyed at any time of the year. With an average annual temperature of 23ºC, thanks to its ideal location near the Tropic of Cancer and the aforementioned trade winds. All this results in a pleasant and mild climate, which allows you to enjoy nature, sun, sea, gastronomy and the historical heritage of Tenerife 365 days a year.

This privileged weather in Tenerife means that you should pack cool clothes to help you fight the temperatures at their highest peaks during the day, but also slightly less cool clothes for the hours when the sun goes down. You should not forget to your sunscreen because you risk burning your skin when exposed to the sun’s rays. For full protection, include sunglasses to protect the eyes and a hat to avoid direct exposure to the face and neck. All that’s left for you to do is to enjoy without worrying about the weather, because as we’ve been saying, it’s privileged!

Today’s mobile phones are an indispensable tool for immortalizing your memories. When we go to a destination like Tenerife, in addition to the experiences we learn, there is a key point that cannot miss, your couple photos on holiday

These images will accompany you forever and must reflect the essence of your stay on the island. So, when you’re back to routine, a little scrolling through your gallery can be a pleasant surprise. From Vanilla Garden, we propose different ways to take your photos to be original and to have amazing photos in your Instagram feed.

If the selfies have any function is to allow us to take the most beautiful and romantic photos of our holiday as a couple. In order for our photos to truly reflect the moments we spend together; it is important to know some tricks:

couple-photos-on-holiday-vanilla-gardenUse the angles in your favour:

Some are more flattering than others, so it is important that you know how to use them in your favour. Your photo will be more beautiful and your face more stylized if you take the photo from above or from the side. A contrasting angle is less flattering because it will make your face look bigger.

Distance is important:

Whenever you can avoid taking photos too close, it reduces the free space around the face, called ‘air’ in photography, and produces a strange visual effect. Extend your arm or use a selfie stick to get a little more distance.

Play with position:

You don’t always need to be at your partner’s side and at the same distance from the camera. You can try some distance, for example, a few steps back, leaning over your partner’s shoulder, jumping or looking like a casual photo.

Details and nothing else:

Photography is experimentation and letting your imagination run wild. If you want a different selfie try to focus attention on the details of the face. In this way you will get a photo and fun.

During the sunset:

One of the most romantic moments to take photos with a couple during the holidays is the dusk. Due to the light it is difficult for the faces to look good, but the silhouettes will stand out. We suggest that you have your profile picture taken at the moment of kissing or just looking at each other.

Colour or black & white?

It is one of the most common doubts when we take a photo. Black and white is a great way to give our photos a vintage touch, while colour is ideal for highlighting details and bringing the image to life. Thanks to the different filters that we have in the mobile you can try the two effects in the same image so that your photo as a couple is perfect.

Forget the poses during the typical study sessions or class borders. Be yourself and enjoy the moment letting yourself go. If you manage to be spontaneous you will be able to reflect the most real image of yourself in your photo as a couple.

Different places:

If you are in a destination with a nearby beach, as is the case when you are staying in Vanilla Garden, take advantage and take a photo underwater. Another option on the beach is to write a phrase on the sand and photograph yourself and your partner with a nice romantic memory at sunset.

We hope we have helped you to discover how to get the best photos for your holiday in Tenerife. Vanilla Garden is an ideal hotel to visit as a couple and get the best memories together. Our entire team will be happy to help you with anything you need, we will make your holiday unforgettable! In addition, so that your holidays are complete we also propose you other activities from our blog.

If you like to practice nudism to have a perfect tan all over your body, or to feel the water and sand as pure as possible, here is a list of the best nudist beaches in Tenerife. The island offers some of the best beaches with crystal clear waters and a beautiful natural environment

From Vanilla Garden, we want to share this list of beaches where you can enjoy nudism with total tranquillity and enjoy the nature of the beaches, during your holidays in Tenerife.

Diego Hernandez Beach

One of Tenerife’s nudist beaches par excellence is Playa Diego Hernández, perhaps one of the wildest beaches on the island. It is very quiet, virgin, with turquoise water and golden sand. It is a small beach, but very nice. We recommend you to visit it when the tide is low, because at high tide there is no space left in the sand, only in the rocks. Access is not easy; you have to reach the beach of La Caleta and walk about 20 minutes.

La Tejita Beach

It’s 1 kilometre long, golden sand and fascinating beauty. La Tejita is essential for people who appreciate nature and want to enjoy it without noise and without a bathing swimsuit. On the beach you can rent hammocks and umbrellas, also has a parking ground. Walking along this beach, you can enjoy the views of Montaña Roja. We recommend that you take food with you because there is no restaurant on the beach.

Montaña Roja Beach

Visually the beach is magnificent, when there is no wind, its waters are crystalline and clear sand. It is located right next to the Red Mountain, near the beach of La Tejita. It is a small beach and easy access, it is perfect for a connection with nature. Without a doubt, one of the most beautiful nudist beaches in Tenerife.

La Pelada Beach

This beach with wild nature, big waves and volcanic sand are located in Granadilla de Abona. Naturists love this beach because they can enjoy it without noise or interruptions, it is also easily accessible.

Las Gaviotas Beach

It is located in the northern part of the island, where nudism is very common, although there are also people who frequent with swimsuits. The beach has many visitors during the summer and especially on weekends. It is a place to get lost and disconnect, because it offers a connection with nature and a feeling of freedom. It is composed of black volcanic sand and is surrounded by steep cliffs, so it offers an impressive landscape.

Los Patos Beach

This wide is one of the largest nudist beaches of the island, located in La Orotava, between the beaches of Bollullo and Ancon, with mountains full of vegetation that act as a beautiful and green backdrop. Its access is complicated and, in addition, it does not have any type of service. The waves can sometimes be strong, and you have to be careful with the tide, because if it rises too much, there is a risk of getting caught on the beach.

We hope we have helped you discover these wonderful nudist beaches of Tenerife during your holidays on the island. Vanilla Garden is an ideal hotel to visit many of these beaches due to the proximity to our hotel and the easy connections if you have decided to rent a car and explore Tenerife. Our entire team will be happy to help you with anything you need, we will make your holiday unforgettable! In addition, to make your holidays complete we also propose other activities from our blog.

In the south of the island there are many beaches and natural pools to visit, such as Playa del Duque, the Alcalá natural swimming pools, Playa de los Gigantes, Playa Fañabé, who would have imagined that you could do it in the middle of October? In many of these southern beaches you can also take advantage of water activities such as snorkeling, paddle surfing, riding jet skis, scuba diving, etc. During the month of October there will be no problem to book these activities because the beaches are less crowded. primeras vacaciones en pareja

The first couple holidays are more important than we think, because we spend all our time with a person with whom we normally only share our free time. That’s why at Vanilla Garden we want to give you a few tips to know what to do at each moment so that your first trip Will be perfect.

Sometimes, a couple vacation is the first step before your commitment goes further. If during your stay in Tenerife the chemistry is positive, maybe it is a sign to go a step further. At the end of the day, this small cohabitation can be a small experiment before moving in together, for example.

Planning the trip

First of all, your holiday starts even before you reach your destination. You will have to discuss with your partner where the first vacation together will be. Talk to your partner to find out what your preferences are. You may want to visit a place where you can rest or maybe you prefer a vacation in a city, nature or adventure. Another factor to keep in mind is your budget. You must think of an amount of money that you want to spend and combine this variant with the place you want to go.

Use each other’s skills for mutual benefit. For example, if one of the couple is used to making reservations for airplanes or hotels, let hi mor her take care of that part of the trip and, who has a better sense of direction can search Google Maps for sites that would be good to visit. It’s about benefiting from the couple’s skills so that it’s a trip in which both of them feel part of.

At the destination

primeras vacaciones en pareja

Do not overload your time of activities, especially if you do not have many days! It is important to reserve some time to rest. Always have a margin for what may arise in the destination and we do not have planned.

For example, if we decide that we would like to know and enjoy the nightlife of Tenerife, perhaps in the morning some can get up late and do not want to spend all day visiting the island. Therefore, you have to be flexible and talk about what you want to do during your first holiday as a couple. The same happens at lunchtime, if your tastes are very varied, you might want to choose a restaurant with an extensive menu. Also, if you want to surprise your partner with a special dinner one night, visit our French restaurant, Chez Damien!

One of the keys to your first couple holiday is the quality of the time. You can still have your daily routine of drinking coffee alone or taking a walk early in the morning without your partner, for example. The important thing is that the time you spend with your partner is pleasant.

In case some plan can not be carried out or something unforeseen arises, do not blame your partner. The best thing in these cases is to stay calm and find a solution together that is beneficial to both. Discussing during the first couple holidays can cause it to become a habit in the long term.

Holidays are a good opportunity not only to rest, but also to reflect with your partner. Don’t be afraid to talk to your partner about anything you can think of. Anything that helps communication will contribute to the well-being of both of you. You can live the best vacation of your life if you realize that having a good time is not a matter of chance, but of preparation, working as a couple and, above all, of having a positive attitude towards life.

We hope that we have helped you to find out what you should know for your first couple holidays. Vanilla Garden is an ideal place to spend your first holidays with your partner in an incredible environment and with many activities to do during your holidays.
