December holidays are coming to our island and it is time to analyse the best options for Tenerife Christmas events. There are a huge number of great possibilities to enjoy a different kind of holiday in the Canarian paradise and to live an experience to remember as a Christmas present. Where in Europe can you combine sun, beach, Christmas and snow? We dare say that in very few places far from the Canary Islands. With winter temperatures that can reach over 20 degrees Celsius you are welcome to take the first dip of the year. Be the envy of all your friends and family by enjoying the start of 2022 on the coast with your swimming costume on. There are countless beaches and coves for you to take to the water on the first of January in search of the luck that will come next year.
Christmas lights
Although Tenerife is an alternative holiday destination at this time of year, we also enjoy some very popular Christmas traditions. Every municipality on the island makes an effort to decorate its streets with lights. The traditional switch-on takes place at the beginning of December and lasts until the Three Wise Men leave their presents. Millions of light bulbs are lit up in the towns of Tenerife, the most outstanding ones being: Santa Cruz de Tenerife, La Laguna, Puerto de La Cruz, Garachico, Adeje and Candelaria. After a year marked by the pandemic, everyone wants to recover the true Christmas spirit.
Concerts
If you are a lover of classical music, you cannot miss the traditional Christmas concert of the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra. Every 25th December, its best musicians gather in the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife to offer a marvellous Christmas show. There are now 25 editions of this musical event which is well worth enjoying on your visit to the island.
Other similar events take place all over the island at this time of year. The Teobaldo Power Theatre in La Orotava hosts the XLV New Year’s Eve Concert on 30 December. Another place to enjoy a good session of classical music. In addition, many other musical events are held in Tenerife.
Christmas markets
Christmas markets have become another tourist attraction. There are many places in the world that take advantage of their craftsmanship to organise this type of open markets with a distinctly festive atmosphere.
In Tenerife we can highlight Le Good Market, a craft market held in December in the island’s capital. Lots of products of all kinds for gifts for your loved ones. In view of the uncertainty caused by the pandemic, many markets have yet to officially open.
Christmas in Vanilla Garden
Of course, we have prepared for you two special events for Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve. Two of the most important dates of this 2021 that we would like you to share with us.
For Christmas we have prepared a menu consisting of lentil cream with Gravelax salmon and lobster ravioli with saffron sauce. To follow will be served scallops on leek julienne with vermouth sauce and a wonderful Guinea fowl stuffed with cabbage and foie gras with port juice. To finish with a fantastic Christmas dessert.
On New Year’s Eve our menu consists of a festive atmosphere, good vibes and a desire to celebrate with family and friends. The dishes you will find prepared by the best chefs are: Foie gras marinated in Sauternes, tempered shrimp flan with citrus emulsion, Saint Peter’s fish with apple brunoise and cider sauce and pressed suckling pig on mashed potatoes and truffle juice. All this finished with a special dessert.
