Tenerife boasts a privileged climate of sunshine and good temperature during all year, but also unique landscapes, spectacular and very difficult to find in other parts of the world.
One of them, its emblem, the highest peak of all Spain that gives a characteristic personality to the island of Tenerife, El Teide. Declared in 1954 National Park, being the largest and oldest of the national parks of the Canary Islands. In 2007 it was also declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco and since then, considered one of the 12 Treasures of Spain, it is one of the most exotic landscapes on the island.
During the day, you can observe a landscape of contrasts between the vegetation of Las Cañadas and the diversity of volcanic materials. And since a few years ago, you can also enjoy this enclave during the night. Several companies on the island organize excursions to contemplate a dream sunset or sunrise, with 360º views at 3,718 meters.
The options are varied and for all audiences. If you go in mountaineering mode, you can access walking to the Altavista refuge, spend the night there and finish the ascent to the peak early in the morning to see the sunrise. We assure the tiredness and the lack of air but also one of the best dawns that you will ever remember. If your choice is this, inform yourself well of the necessary permits, refuge availability and physical conditions required.
Another option a little more comfortable is to climb the peak by cable car and enjoy the highest sunset in Spain, from where, if the weather conditions permit, you will have a panoramic view of the islands of La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro.
On the other hand, if yours are the stars, you can enjoy them in their pure state. Some of the excursions also include a guided tour of the Teide Observatory, the largest solar observatory in the world. During your nocturnal visit, ideal for astronomy lovers, you can contemplate (with the help of a telescope) a sky without light pollution, where you can almost touch the stars.
Regarding transportation, if you want to disconnect from the car or you do not have a rental car, the displacement is not a problem, the vast majority of these excursions have exclusive transfers that pick you up in the south, Costa Adeje and Los Cristianos, as well as in the northern area and capital of the island. In addition, some of these options offer packs that include during the visit, a glass of champagne, a snack or even luxury romantic dinners.
